Coconut oil has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and healing properties. However, it may not be suitable for all skin types and those with coconut allergies should avoid using it.
For those who can tolerate it, coconut oil can be utilized in various ways, such as removing makeup, soothing the skin, and promoting a healthy, dewy complexion. Research has shown that coconut oil is an effective moisturizer. To try it, massage a small amount onto your face, let it absorb for a few minutes, and then wash off with your regular cleanser.
2. Use aloe vera to keep skin strong and healthy

Aloe vera has the ability to heal and potentially promote the growth of new cells. Additionally, it provides soothing and moisturizing benefits without blocking pores. Incorporating aloe vera into your daily skincare routine by applying it to your face after washing may give your skin a healthy appearance.
However, it is important to note that some individuals may be allergic to aloe vera. To test for an allergic reaction, try applying a small amount to your forearm and wait for 24 hours to see if there is a reaction. If there is no reaction, it is likely safe to use.
3. Moisturize properly after washing your face

To achieve a radiant and youthful complexion, it is important to moisturize your skin with products that provide long-lasting hydration, support the healing process, and contain antioxidants. Avoid exfoliating when your skin feels dry and do not neglect moisturizing even if your skin appears oily.
For maximum hydration, apply moisturizer to your skin when it is still damp, either after a shower or after rinsing your face. This helps to seal in additional moisture, rather than just temporarily smoothing the surface of your skin.

Using a sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher can help protect against skin cancer. By blocking harmful UV rays, you can also reduce the effects of photoaging, which is the premature aging of the skin.
It is important to apply a product containing sunscreen every morning, regardless of weather conditions. This includes cloudy or rainy days, as UV rays can still penetrate through the clouds.
5. Find a cleansing routine that works

Over-washing can strip your skin of its natural moisture and cause your pores to produce excess oil. On the other hand, washing too infrequently can lead to buildup of dirt, oil, and impurities.
For optimal skin health, it is recommended to wash your face after exercise, in the morning, and before bedtime. This frequency of washing provides a good balance between removing excess oil and sweat and preserving your skin's natural moisture.
6. Avoid smoke and secondhand smoke
Probiotic supplements have several benefits including:
- Enhancing your immune system
- Improving digestion
- Decreasing bloating and inflammation in your digestive system
In addition, a 2014 study found that probiotics can also contribute to healthy hair and radiant skin.
Steaming and heat can unclog pores and rid the skin of toxins, however prolonged exposure to very hot water can remove oil from the skin, leading to a tired and dull complexion. To avoid this, it is recommended to minimize the skin's exposure to extremely hot water.
Lowering the temperature towards the end of your shower can improve blood circulation, giving your face a more toned and youthful appearance. This simple change in your routine may also have the added benefit of boosting your immune system.
Key Points
Caring for your skin is a form of self-care that can result in a radiant complexion. However, stress, nutritional imbalances, hormonal fluctuations, and other health issues can make it more difficult to achieve healthy skin.
If you are worried about the appearance of your skin, it is best to consult with your primary healthcare provider or dermatologist. Dull, dry, flaky, or patchy skin can be indicative of underlying health problems.

The Inside-Out Guide to Getting Your Skin to Glow

One of the many advantages of my job is that I get to travel to different places and encounter new cultures throughout the year. I am extremely thankful for these experiences, but they do have a drawback, especially on my skin. Our skin is often neglected even though it is the largest organ on our body and we live in it. The harsh conditions during air travel, such as the dry air from air conditioning on long flights, can cause itchy and dry skin. Additionally, my skin is constantly exposed to varying and often harsh environments when I travel, including changes in humidity, dry weather, and rain.
In recent years, I have made a significant effort to take care of my skin. I have noticed a remarkable improvement by approaching skincare from the inside out. In addition to external skin care, the most significant change can come from nourishing your skin cells from within. Here are some tips for achieving radiant skin from the inside out!

To ensure I consume the recommended daily water intake of 13 cups for men and 9 cups for women, I keep two 1-liter bottles of water in the refrigerator and drink from them throughout the day. By the time I finish both bottles, I know that I have met my daily water needs and my skin is properly hydrated.
- Coconut Water
I recently discovered the benefits of coconut water, which has exceptional hydrating properties and is a good source of vitamin C, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. I have become a big fan of coconut water and I know I'm not alone, as Victoria Beckham is also a fan.
- Fresh Juices
Juices and smoothies are an excellent way to get multiple nutrients in one serving. The vitamins and nutrients they provide are beneficial for healing and maintaining healthy skin. To avoid preservatives and added sugars that can harm the skin, try making your own juices and smoothies instead of buying from stores.
- Consider using masks to rejuvenate your skin. Masks can hydrate your skin deeply, extract excess oil, remove dead skin cells, and increase moisture levels.
GlamGlow is one of my favorite mask brands because they offer a variety of skin-friendly products suitable for different skin types. At first, I was skeptical about the idea of a product transforming your skin, but after using their SuperMud Clearing Treatment mask, I saw a noticeable improvement in the radiance and glow of my skin.
- Keep in mind that your face has different areas with different needs. GlamGlow is a strong supporter of the multi-masking trend, which involves applying different masks to specific parts of your face based on their individual needs. For instance, some people have oily T-zones and dry cheeks, so it's useful to target each area separately to optimize your pampering routine and achieve the desired glow.
- Take into account the changes in the seasons. Your skin experiences changes just like the seasons do, so what works for you in the summer may not be suitable for the winter.
Typically, we need a more hydrating and heavy-duty moisturizer during the winter when the cold weather makes our skin drier, and a lighter moisturizer during the summer with added SPF to protect our skin from the harmful UV rays.
For the winter, I recommend Neal's Yard Remedies Almond Moisturizer, which is packed with vitamins and perfect for sensitive skin. The combination of sweet almond and evening primrose oils helps to soothe, balance, and protect your skin while also combating dryness.
To get rid of dry, flaky skin on your body, try Lola's Apothecary Orange Patisserie Warming Body Souffle. It not only smells delicious, with hints of orange drizzle cake and warm ginger and vanilla spices, but it also provides nourishment to your skin. The souffle contains coconut butter, which is high in vitamin E and essential fatty acids.
For the summer, I suggest the Lancer Sheer Fluid Sun Shield moisturizer with SPF30, a must-have. This moisturizer, sought after by celebrities like Victoria Beckham, provides deep hydration and helps restore your skin's balance. It's also lightweight, making it ideal for travel.
- Wear sheet masks. Air conditioning during long flights can have a negative impact on your skin, leaving it dry and tight. However, since I discovered sheet masks, my travel skincare routine has improved. Sheet masks are less messy than traditional masks, as they are already saturated with nourishing ingredients. Simply place the mask on your face for 10-15 minutes for optimal absorption. I personally enjoy using the Estée Lauder Double Wear 3 Minute Priming Moisture Mask for its moisturizing benefits. With sheet masks, I no longer have to worry about transferring my skincare products into smaller containers to meet carry-on restrictions. It's a convenient way to relax and care for your skin while traveling.
- Choosing the right oils for your skin is important. Although an excess of oil on the skin is not desirable, natural oils can play a crucial role in maintaining skin health. I use Emma Hardie's Brilliance Facial Oil in the evening to allow its powerful formula to repair my skin while I sleep. This oil has a lovely fragrance, and with nine essential oils including lavender, it can help promote a peaceful sleep. To provide extra protection against cold, harsh air, consider mixing your oil with a nighttime moisturizer.
If you struggle with dry, flaky skin due to changes in the weather, seek out products that contain Hyaluronic acid. This ingredient can leave your skin feeling refreshed and radiant by eliminating dryness. One of my favorite products is the Pestle & Mortar Pure Hyaluronic Serum, which is highly effective in combating dehydration, dullness, and fine lines without causing irritation to sensitive skin.
For overall radiant skin, I highly recommend Lola's Apothecary, which offers a range of calming, fragrant oils to nourish the skin. The Delicate Romance Balancing Body and Massage Oil, in particular, contains 30% rosehip oil, which helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks, age spots, and fine lines, and Argan oil, which improves radiance and skin texture. This versatile oil can be used on the face, body, hair, and nails, and has a delightful scent of sweet orange, vanilla, lemon, and rose.
Conclusion
Regardless of age or lifestyle, it is essential to prioritize skin care. Your skin is a lifelong companion, so it's important to treat it with care and attention. By doing so, your skin will reward you with a healthy, youthful appearance.

A Guide to Taking Care of Your Skin
You might think you have dry, oily, or sensitive skin, but are you sure? Knowing your actual skin type is important when choosing skincare products. Using the wrong products or even popular internet remedies can actually make skin problems like acne or dryness worse.
Learn how to:
- Develop a personalized skincare routine
- Address specific skin issues such as acne or scars
- Avoid harmful DIY skin treatments, even if they appear to be effective.
- Sunscreen: Apply sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 30 fifteen minutes before going outside, as it takes time for the sunscreen to become effective. People with darker skin tones actually need more sun protection because it is more difficult to correct hyperpigmentation. Consider using EltaMD's sunscreen, which provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection and is recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation.
When selecting skincare products, make sure they are suitable for your skin type and sensitivity, and be sure to read the labels. Certain products, such as retinol or prescription retinoids, should only be used at night.
