Best Recommendations for Places to Stay in Bali

It is crucial to research and choose the best areas and hotels to stay in Bali. Quality accommodation is essential in this destination, as you can find both cheap and high-quality options if you know what to look for. However, before booking a hotel, it is important to plan your Bali itinerary and consider how many days you will be staying.

Although Bali is not a large island, many of its temples and other attractions are far from each other, so it is important to carefully choose where to stay in order to minimize travel time.

If you want to explore beyond the beach, it may be a good idea to divide your stay among two or three accommodations, allowing you to see more of the surrounding area without wasting time on transportation.

Although the prices of hotels in Bali are higher compared to the rest of Indonesia, they are still relatively cheap compared to European standards and may even offer deals.

In this article, we will recommend hotels in Bali that not only offer a good price-quality ratio, but also have personality and create a memorable experience for the traveler.

We prefer to stay in hotels that are unique and not part of a chain, as we believe this is important when planning a trip to Bali. Therefore, we have carefully chosen the best hotels and areas to stay in Bali to share with you.

We have chosen a variety of accommodations in Bali, including the cheapest hostels, the best hotels, and luxury resorts to help you find the perfect place to stay. No matter your situation, we will strive to give you the best recommendations for your trip.

If you are searching for luxury resorts for a honeymoon in Bali, consider our selection of the best villas in Bali. There are many affordable options available. In that article, we also explain the differences between a villa and a resort in Bali and why you may want to choose a villa for your honeymoon.

Now, let's discuss the best locations to stay in Bali one by one :

1. Ubud is the best area to stay in Bali if you want to be close to everything.

It is the cultural and artistic center of Bali and is a must-visit destination on any trip to the island. Ubud is one of the best places to stay in Bali because it is centrally located and many day trips depart from here. There are many things to do in Ubud, such as visiting the Ubud Palace and the Sacred Monkey Forest.

In addition to its unique setting surrounded by rice fields, Ubud is known for its variety of restaurants and shops, making it a popular place to stay among tourists.

If you are able to find availability at any of the following accommodations for your desired dates, I would recommend booking it without hesitation :

- Ulun Ubud Resort is a premium option located in Sanggingan, 3 miles from the Ubud temple. It is ideal for even the most discerning travelers, with rooms featuring a modern Balinese style and a pool situated in the middle of the Bali jungle. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind on vacation.
- Adiwana Monkey Forest is a top option located 1 mile from the Ubud market. This hotel has 21 suites that blend the charm of the Monkey Forest with the local culture of the area. If you want to fully immerse yourself in Balinese culture, this is one of the best hotels to stay in Bali due to its healthy and traditional food options. It is an excellent choice for travelers seeking a unique and authentic experience.
- B Saya Villas is a standard option that offers simple, traditional-style villas with wooden furniture. Located among rice fields, you can enjoy stunning sunset views from your terrace. The complex also offers daily yoga sessions. I believe it is one of the best accommodations in Bali, with prices starting at $40 per night.
- Teja Home Stay is a low cost option located near the Ubud art market. This family-run business is popular among tourists and boasts a beautiful garden with fountains and exotic birds. Rooms are available from $20 per night and include continental breakfast.
2. Kuta and Legian are good areas to stay in Bali if you are looking for a lively nightlife scene.

These areas offer some of the best budget accommodation options in Bali, making them popular among groups. However, Kuta and Legian also have other attractions such as beaches, shopping centers, and restaurants, so they are not just popular with young people but also families and couples who want to be close to these amenities.

If you are looking for cheap accommodation and a vibrant atmosphere, Kuta and Legian may be the best choice for you.

It is important to note that Kuta and Legian are popular among Australian tourists and can become crowded during the high season in Bali.

If you are planning to stay in these areas during this time, it is advisable to book your accommodation well in advance. These are some of our favorite accommodations in Kuta and Legian :

- The Sandi Phala Beach Resort and Ma Joly Restaurant in Kuta is a premium option that combines tradition, luxury, and nature. You can enjoy stunning sunsets from the tropical garden, which overlooks the white sand beach just steps from the hotel. Located only 15 minutes by car from the airport, this hotel is a perfect choice for travelers looking to end their trip to Bali in style.

It is a great choice for travelers seeking relaxation and a range of amenities.

3. I recommend staying in Seminyak, a district in Bali known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant nightlife, and great atmosphere.

One of the popular attractions in Seminyak is La Plancha bar, which features a beachside chill-out area with brightly colored umbrellas. This is a great spot to watch the sunset.

Seminyak is a great place to stay in Bali if you want to be close to a variety of shops and restaurants, but also want to avoid the hustle and bustle of Kuta.

It's a good place to find budget-friendly hotels, but you can also find all-inclusive hotels in the area. We didn't try an all-inclusive hotel during our 7-day trip to Bali.

- IZE Seminyak is a stylish hotel with a modern design. It boasts a rooftop terrace with a pool and bar, as well as spa and wellness services. Located just 15 minutes from the beach, the hotel also has restaurants that serve a fusion of Oriental and European cuisine.

- Lloyd's Inn is one of my favorite places to stay in Bali. It's a modern hotel that has something for everyone, with a contemporary style that blends monochromatic decor with wood accents. The hotel is just a short walk from the beach and close to the best restaurants and shops in the area.
- Dash Hotel Seminyak is a unique hotel with a lot of personality and a true Seminyak atmosphere. It features custom-made iron furniture paired with paintings, colorful sculptures, and retro industrial-style lighting. The hotel also has a spa, gym, and a beautiful rooftop terrace. If you're looking for accommodation in Bali that's unlike anything else, you should consider this hotel.
- Summerhome Seminyak is a small boutique hotel with just eleven rooms, decorated in a colonial beach style with white and light colors to create a peaceful atmosphere. It's a great accommodation option in Bali if you're looking to relax during your trip.
4. Canggu is a small fishing town located about 6 miles from Kuta.

It has a more laid-back atmosphere than Kuta and Seminyak and is known for its cultural activities and relaxation. The town has two ancient temples on its beaches: Pura Batu Bolong and Pura Batu Mejan. Some popular establishments in Canggu include the Lawn bar, known for its cocktails, and the Ji restaurant Bali, which serves both Eastern and Western dishes. Canggu is the best area to stay in Bali for surfers.

Canggu is also one of the best places to stay in Bali if you want to surf or rent a scooter. Here are some accommodation recommendations:

- Theanna Eco Villa and Spa in Canggu is a premium accommodation option that combines Balinese, Japanese, and Scandinavian styles. The town is home to the Garuda Wisnu Kencana, a park dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu that features impressive statues up to 400 feet tall. Visiting the park is one of the most exciting things to do in Bali.

These types of accommodations are built on stilts over the water and offer a unique and luxurious experience for travelers.

- The Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa is a top accommodation option in Bali, offering modern luxury surrounded by lush hills.
